Tortorella: Another One Bites the Dust

So, here we are, the Final Four, take your pick. Chicago-Los Angeles, Boston-Pittsburgh.

The oddsmakers will be hard at work trying to make a buck, the “insiders” will be pushing their agenda, and fans will be betting with their hearts. They always do.

In the meantime Johnny Torts has been dumped after four tortuous seasons with the Rangers. From all reports, John Tortorella was surprised, speechless in fact, which for him is an outright shocker. Why he would be surprised, I have no idea. Read more

Playoff Interruptions Are Now OK

Mulling over Thursday morning’s playoff results from the previous evening, it occurred to me the NHL is going through problematic diversions in the Stanley Cup playoffs, diversions that would have been considered unusual not so long ago.

          Items excluded were contract disputes or signings, hiring and firing, card-draws for draft choices, discussion of rules and policy changes.

For instance, there was a time when a suspension during the post-season rarely happened. Penalties, sure, but through the usual paperwork and post game reports, suspension worthy incidents were allegedly lessened in the shuffling of said paperwork. Read more
